On May 22, 2026, NHR@SW held a one-day workshop on practical quantum computing at Goethe University Frankfurt as part of the NHR@SW training activities for members of the NHR Alliance.
The workshop focused on practical applications of algorithms on quantum computers, covering both emulators and real quantum hardware. Participants were introduced to the field of quantum computing and its applications before moving into hands-on sessions.
The first part of the workshop focused on variational quantum algorithms and the setup of a Python environment for working with Jupyter notebooks. In the second part, participants explored how to work with NV-based quantum hardware and had the opportunity to run jobs on the quantum computer Baby Diamond.
The workshop was organized by Dr. Manpreet Jattana and Fritz Haltenberger. It was part of an ongoing annual workshop series that has been active for three years.
We thank all participants for joining and look forward to offering more practical quantum computing workshops in the future.
